The 8th Finals Day of the West Of Scotland snooker league took place on Sunday 9th June 2019. The day started off with our customary League and Consolation Cup Finals. Previously twice League Cup Runners Up Masters were playing Usual Suspects in the final hoping to break their duck in the competition but after a bad start fell to a 7v3 defeat to the deserved Winners on the day.
The Consolation Cup was a more tense affair with Cabin Crew lifting the trophy with a 7v5 victory against the experienced Hansons team to lift the Trophy.

Next as always was the last 16 of each of the popular Low and High Handicap 1 Frame Challenges. The Low handicap Final ended with the previous years Champion losing out to surprised Winner Sam McDonald. Sam becomes the first ever player to win this with a handicap as previously has always been won by a Scratch player. Well done Sam McDonald.
The High Handicap Final was probably a bit more predictable as favourite from the outset Brian Shepley Jnr prevailed beating 2nd time Runners Up Rab Rutherford Snr to lift the title.

Last but certainly not least was the Scratch and Handicap Singles Finals and they didnt disappoint. The Scratch Final was our best Final to date with a tight match that was eventually won on the black ball in the deciding frame. Graeme Innes beats Campbell Dunlop 4v3 to become the 6th different player to win this Title in 6 years. Still no player has won it twice.
The handicap final was also a tight affair with Allan McLaren beating Brian Shepley Jnr 3 frames to 2 to lift the title for his first time.

Once again Finals Day was a complete success thanks to all the participants and a special mention to Gary McLaughlin, Graeme Innes, Graeme Dick, Craig Bradshaw, Sam McDonald, Tina and of course Baldave who without them this would not be possible. Also big thanks to our sponsors Brown and Lorimer Joinery and Jatinder and Niven Adams.

Also have to mention the break builders during the season. We struggled for a few seasons to get a century break. This season we have had 6 in the one season. Tremendous achievement for our league. Congrats go to Graeme Innes who hit 4 centuries, Campbell Dunlop and Alistair Bayne who hit 1 each as well.

See yous next season for season 9.
