The 7th Finals Day of the West Of Scotland snooker league took place on Sunday 24th June 2018. As always it began with both the League Cup and Consolation Cup Finals respectively. Hansons beat Masters 7v6 in a cracking final which went to a play off. Campbell Dunlop edged out Gary McLaughlin to lift the trophy for the first time at their third attempt after losing their previous 2 Finals. The Consolation Cup Final was a more one sided affair with Rockets running out 7v2 winners against Definitely Maybe.

The next event was the last 16 of each of the Low and High Handicap One Frame Challenges. In the Low Handicap One Frame Challenge the 2 finalists were Campbell Dunlp and Martin Craig who had played each other in the Cup Final Play Off. This time Martin Craig got his revenge on winning the title and thus proving his Captain correct that he is a better player for himself than he is for his team. Well done Martin. The High Handicap Final saw Alan Ralston beating serial finalist Lindsay Brotherston in a very tight affair. Well done Alan.

Next was both the Scratch and Handicap Finals which is what finals day is all about. The Scratch Final was between league new comer Alistair Bayne and the 2015 Winner Allan Duffy. It was a very tense match but Alistair Bayne got over the finish line with a 4v2 victory and becoming the 5th different winner in 5 years of this competition. The Handicap Final saw another cracking match with Craig Reid beating Simon Clark 3v2 and lifting the title for his first time.

All in all the 7th Finals day was a success once again and thanks to all who played their part in it being a success once again.
